Blacktongues undecided on latest release 2002 Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

Adelaide, Australia, 7-March-2005 -- The latest meeting of the Adelaide Blacktongues were divided and undecided in their opinion over the latest release Cabernet Sauvignon wines from the 2002 vintage of the Barossa Valley, South Australia. 

After spending an hour tasting ten of the latest release wines, the voting indicated that there would be no clear winner to take out the title of the best 2002 Barossa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. While all the wines were judged to be of very high quality, many of the Blacktongue members were split over the best wine of the night with the clearest winner being the 2002 Charles Melton Cabernet Sauvignon with the 2002 Kabiminye Cabernet Sauvignon coming in at second. The surprise of the tasting was a relative newcomer, the 2002 Villa Tinto Cabernet Sauvignon, with most tasters enthusing how good it was for its price point. 

The wines were masked and each member of the tasting panel has 1 hour to work through ten glasses of wine and assess each one based on personal preferences. Blacktongue tasting panels can be a good indication of the broad spectrum of public opinion surrounding the sea of wine available to today's wine consumer.
